Winning Home and Away

OK - we fibbed a bit (well in fact a whole lot) about the Euro 2016 themed bit. There is in fact, not a single footie reference in what you will find below...but it will help pass the time whilst waiting for your team to get started in the one month soccer-fest that lies ahead.

Mitie has won a three year contract that will see the firm deliver maintenance services and project works at the Institute’s headquarters on Pall Mall in central London. The seven storey grade 1 listed building includes a business centre, function rooms, restaurants, bars and lounges.

Mitie wins paper chase

Meanwhile, Mitie’s document solutions business, Total Document Management (TDM), has secured a new three-year contract with global business advisory firm, FTI Consulting.

Mitie will deliver the management of FTI’s on-site print, mail and porterage functions as well as the procurement of related services including equipment, couriers, stationery and print for the agency’s London office.

One of the key services delivered as part of the contract is TDM’s new mailroom offering – Pinpoint – a track and trace technology to provide real-time, accurate and auditable tracking of the movement of all incoming accountable items.

Hugh O’Neill, MD of Real Estate & Facilities, FTI Consulting said: “We have appointed Mitie following a rigorous procurement exercise. They have demonstrated a significant understanding of the professional services environment and how they could enhance the document management services we provide, both to our clients and our employees."

SPIE Enlightens ProRail

The objective of ProRail is to properly organise all yards in the Netherlands, making sure they comply with regulations regarding working conditions and the environment. It ensures they are and continue to be maintained well and that information provision is up-to-date. Yards composed of the shunting yards and tracks. These sites are used by every carrier that has access to the railways, to load and unload goods.

SPIE will form a direct part of ProRail’s ‘Tidy Yards’ programme. As part of the ‘Improve Lighting’ project, SPIE will be responsible for two of the four lots on offer (Northern and Southern Randstad Conurbation regions). It concerns a tender amount of almost two million Euros.

SPIE will be listing, modifying, supply and replacing yard lighting, masts, track lighting, positions, fittings and depot supplies, while train preheating and compressed air systems will be removed. SPIE will also lay cables and wiring; it will connect the power supply and will be responsible for light control. Safety will play an important role during this project; the work will be carried out in accordance with the strictest safety requirements.

Incentive Qas and The City & Guilds Group to Provide Workforce with Living Wage

Incentive QAS, the specialist cleaning arm independent the Incentive FM Group, has introduced the London Living Wage to a key workforce servicing one of its major clients. Higher wages are now being provided to those employees delivering a range of cleaning services to the City & Guilds Group.

Incentive is nine months into a three-year contract to provide a full range of daily office cleaning services at the City & Guilds Group’s two main offices in Giltspur Street, London, as well as at eight regional offices including Glasgow, Warrington and Cardiff. The contract also sees the firm deliver a selection of associated services, including pest control, waste management, window cleaning and washroom services.

Upon securing the contract, which commenced in September 2015, twenty-nine members of staff transferred to Incentive QAS’ operation under TUPE.

Those employees working across the City & Guilds Group’s offices in London have recently been upgraded from the TUPE minimum wage to the London Living Wage, currently set at £9.40 per hour, in line with the company’s status as a recognised Living Wage Service Provider. In addition, Incentive QAS and City & Guilds Group have also ensured those employees working across the regional offices are now paid at least the Living Wage (£8.25 per hour). Both of these rates exceed the Government’s National Living Wage (£7.20, regardless of location), introduced this April.

Kevin Hutcheson, Head of Facilities Management, City & Guilds Group, said: “At the City & Guilds Group we believe that everyone is deserving of a salary that not only rewards their skillset and dedication to the role, but also reflects the real cost of living in the UK.”

Since the introduction of the higher wages Incentive says it has observed an increase in team morale and positive attitude from staff whilst on the job. The company has also witnessed a reduction in absence rates and days lost to sickness.
