ThisWeekinFM would like to thank our sponsors of the Facilities Industry Charity Boxing

Wine Sponsor

The evening of Thursday May 11 saw almost three hundred FM and industry related professionals gather at the Millennium Hotel in Mayfair for a night of fine dining, good wine and sporting entertainment.

Joined by Champions old and new, it was also an excellent opportunity for industry big hitters to meet their sporting equivalents such as Darryl Williams, the recently crowned English Super Middleweight Champion. Mickey Cantwell, British Flyweight Champion in 1996 (and some may recognise him from the Hollywood Blockbuster, Snatch).  Marcello Renda, the undefeated British Masters and International Masters Champion.

The event is not just designed to bring industry professionals together to have a bit of fun and make some new connections, it is also raises awareness on how Boxing Futures, supported by Marcello Renda, uses non-contact Boxercise to give physical and mental wellbeing and empowerment to young victims of crime and abuse, those at risk of offending and other socially and economically disadvantaged groups.

The generosity and support of our Guests was outstanding with the current total raised being near the £3,500 mark.  Donations are still being received and your contributions are really appreciated.  Every single penny donated goes to Boxing Futures and will be used for an extremely worthwhile cause.

In the ring

The main attraction was four bouts of professional boxing.  This was not a white collar or amateur affair but a serious line-up of pro-boxers taking to the ring.  And they did not hold back!

Driving the Gossip

Our very own Grapevinist (aka Gossip Column Jimmy the Saint - incognito as ever) caught some interesting footage of Andy Wilmot, British Racing Car Driver.  Andy gave Grapevine an exclusive interview and revealed he will be competing in the 2018 British Touring Car Championship.  Now, why would a Racing Driver attend a Boxing Event?

Let's Do It Again

The ThisWeekinFM Team hope those that attended had a great time and look forward to seeing you again next time.

And don’t forget, next up is the Facilities Industry Annual Summer River Boat Party on 13th July...ship ahoy!

A Photo Album for the evening is available. Pictures provided by Craig Shepheard, FM Expert
