Finger Lickin' Good - Contract Wings Cloud's Way

KFC recently embarked on an ambitious strategy that should see the company double in size over the next five years in the UK. The choice of FM provider to support the expansion, especially in terms of customer service, was seen as a crucial factor leading to the decision by KFC to partner with Cloudfm.

Prior to the decision, KFC had undertaken a ‘rigorous and exhaustive’ procurement process to find a long term partner that could understand the business and provide improvements in service quality and efficiency.

The £60 million contract will involve all of the current 235 KFC outlets in the UK over the next five years (excluding franchises) and from this month, Cloudfm will manage all planned and reactive maintenance.

“Cloudfm met all our criteria and we are happy to be partnering with such a professional operation,” stated Ian Diaper, Property Manager, KFC.

Cloudfm’s approach to managing data was also a key factor in KFC’s decision. “We expect to see improvements above store level as well with enhanced financial control and accounting,” said Mr Diaper. “My team and I will benefit from clearer insights that will enable us to be far more proactive in areas such as capital investment. All of this will come as a result of people and processes working together.”

Previous incumbent

The owner of KFC is Yum! Brands - said to be the largest restaurant company in the world ($13 billion global sales in 2014). The incumbent at KFC was Bellrock who also look after Yum! Brands' Pizza Hut in the UK. At one time, Bellrock was looking after over 800 company-owned restaurants offering 24/7 building & equipment maintenance, helpdesk and planned & reactive maintenance services, along with procurement and supply chain management.
