Docking at Dover and an Olympic Achievement

Two major - and unusual contacts - have been let this week. One is at the Olympic Stadium whilst the other is at the Port of Dover taking in services that might not necessarily have previously been thought of as 'facilities'

The London award involves Vinci Stadium, operator of a network of venues, including the Stade de France, winning the right to manage the former Olympic Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The stadium will host five matches of Rugby World Cup 2015 before fully reopening in 2016 when it will become the home of West Ham United and the national competition venue for UK Athletics.

Vinci Stadium, a subsidiary of Vinci Concessions, will be responsible for all aspects of running and managing the stadium on day-to-day basis as well as bringing in new events and activity.

It will work with the E20 Stadium Partnership (a joint venture between the London Legacy Development Corporation and Newham Council) to ensure the stadium is ready to host West Ham United and UK Athletics in 2016, as well as Rugby World Cup 2015, and the IAAF 2017 World Athletics Championships and 2017 IPC Athletics World Championships.

Alongside managing the Stadium, Vinci Stadium will also manage the London Marathon Charitable Trust Community Track and events on the south park lawn, below the ArcelorMittal Orbit. It will work with the E20 Stadium Partnership to promote sport and healthy living in the local area and deliver mass participation events such as the Great Newham London Run.

Cruising to a big, big win

In the other major FM deal, the Port of Dover has awarded a major contract to Incentive FM, following a detailed tender through the OJEU process. Under the terms, Incentive FM will provide a range of services at the Port of Dover’s dedicated Cruise Terminals. They handled over 200,000 passengers in 2014 and Dover continues to be the UK’s second busiest cruise port.

Incentive FM will be responsible for all arriving and departing passengers, along with their baggage. The company will provide mooring of vessels, porterage, baggage handling, security, car park management, reception desk, waste handling, replenishment of vessels, and customer service. Four full-time Incentive staff will be provided, along with a dedicated facilities manager. In addition, around 180 flexible staff living locally will be employed as required to deliver services when the cruise vessels are in port.

“We wanted a partnership approach that reflected strong investment in staff on site and a clear focus on customer service training,” explained Emma Ward, Head of Operations, Port of Dover said. “Together with Incentive FM, we want to provide the highest standards and drive service delivery to ensure all cruise passengers receive a first class experience.”
