Banking on Discretion and Principle

The UK’s oldest private bank, C. Hoare & Co, has appointed cleaning specialist, Julius Rutherfoord, to provide contract cleaning services across all of its sites in London

C. Hoare & Co was looking for a cleaning organisation to provide ‘outstanding’ cleaning standards, high levels of consistency, while maintaining the discretion and implementing the strictest security measures.

In addition, the client requested that the contract adopted the London Living Wage and be delivered with a thorough staff training, innovation and a development programme. The bank opted for Battersea based Julius Rutherfoord as it believed it matched these criteria and demonstrated it had the dedicated local resources and experience to deliver a long term partnership.

"C.Hoare & Co has an incredible reputation in the London financial market and it has very demanding standards,” said Marcus Heap, Julius Rutherfoord Sales and Marketing Director. “The bank is based in an interesting blend of historic and modern London buildings with a very discerning client base.”

The bank was founded in 1672 at Cheapside but has been at 37 Fleet Street since 1690 and signs were used to identify businesses in the seventeenth century and a golden bottle was hung over the doorway. The gilded leather bottle is now kept inside the building and the old banking hall still has the original flag stones and brass fittings.

Contracts with Principle

New business is being won by London based Principle Cleaning with a number of prestigious clients.

The cleaning company recently won a cleaning contract with Vinson & Elkins based at 20 Fenchurch Street where its London office opened in 1971, making it one of the oldest London offices of any US law firm.

A contract with Barings Asset Management at 155 Bishopsgate London also started recently and is for an initial two-year contract. This well known investment bank with high profile client meeting and dining areas has tasked Principle Cleaning staff to provide daily cleaning, including specialist periodic carpet cleaning and kitchen deep cleaning as well as window cleaning in addition to housekeeping and porterage services.

The company has continued to develop its portfolio with Savills property management, taking over the cleaning services for Riverside House in Wandsworth where staff will be providing daily cleaning for the common parts, window cleaning and pest control services. A new contract with Savills is for Church Road in Richmond where staff will be providing daily office cleaning with daytime housekeeping services.
